I’ve gotten a good deal of feedback from folks who would like to read my book but strongly prefer to listen to them that I should get off my butt and make Gathering available in an audio format. What a great idea! Now, the Asunder guys probably don’t want to pay for a narrator or many production costs, but… as it turns out, I have an extensive background in voice-over and acting. What’s more, I hate the idea of someone else reading my book and mangling all the names. (What’s that? Control freak, you say? …Yes.)
We’ve got a decent amount of space at my place, and a big ol’ barn thing in the back yard that I only ever use to make woodworking messes in, so I figure it’s time to make a sound booth!

Some PVC pipe, shower curtain hangers, and specialty sound-dampening blankets later, I have begun to record the chapters of my book one by one. The blankets were a tad pricey, but I love the idea of having my novel out there as an audiobook and putting some of my long-neglected vocal talents to use.

I’m a little concerned that I’ll botch it entirely and no one will want to listen, but then, I’m not willing to let anyone else do it, so we’ll see how it goes!
